Science Around the Year

This is a great book to have on hand on your family's bookshelf. It includes 52 science experiments (one for every week of the year if you're counting!) with clear and concise instructions...These are fun things that you could do with a child as young as 5 but an eleven-year old isn't going to be too bored either. Each experiment takes up only two pages so there's no turning the page to suddenly find out the next step is "...wait three hours" and then you have a frustrated child on your hands! Janice VanCleave gives enough new vocabulary to be interesting and makes a child feel knowledgable but not so much they become overwhelmed by language. As a bonus, she also includes a book list at the end of each experiment for those budding scientists that simply must learn more! -Rhiannon
